XML Sitemap - 5th of July 2009

Today I am submitting my XML Sitemap for my website. What is a sitemap? A sitemap “...is a list of pages of a web site accessible to crawlers or users. It can be either a document in any form used as a planning tool for web design, or a web page that lists the pages on a web site, typically organized in hierarchical fashion. This helps visitors and search engine bots find pages on the site. ...”, in other words, it is a way to properly identify a hierarchic structure for your website and links.

But I am submitting a sitemap in .XML format. The reason for this is Google uses the XML sitemaps structure to be able to identify webpages that are dynamic such as the ones in my website. So without me submitting my XML sitemap, Google will index my Journal but won't index the content for each link.

“Google introduced Google Sitemaps so web developers can publish lists of links from across their sites. The basic premise is that some sites have a large number of dynamic pages that are only available through the use of forms and user entries. “

You can use a sitemap maker such as this one http://www.xml-sitemaps.com

After uploading the XML to my root directory where my website is, I changed my robots.txt that I created on the 16th of June 2009
